The Museum of Modern Renaissance in Somerville is an amazing space that has to be seen to be believed. I have a blog entry with a photo from my last performance there, dated May 14, 2010. It only shows the stage, but the walls and the ceiling of the concert hall are even more impressive! I invite everyone to come on Sunday, March 6, when I will be participating in a Benefit Concert there (for time and other details, please check my CALENDAR page).
I will be performing two pieces: Saint-Saëns' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, and Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen (also known as Цыганские Напевы, or Gypsy Airs). Saint-Saëns is a beautiful piece (you can hear me playing it, with orchestra, on my web site); this time I will be accompanied by pianist Tanya Shrago, a true professional. For Zigeunerweisen, I will be accompanied on piano by Lidiya Yankovskaya, who is also conductor and music director of Boston Opera Collaborative.
Zigeunerweisen has been described as "arguably the best of the virtuosic violin repertoire", a "well-renowned but maddening piece" that requires exquisite violin technique to play well. This piece has long been a favorite with my audiences, and you will understand why if you hear my performance of it. I have no recording of it on the web, so if you want to hear what the fuss is about, please come to the concert.
Thank you for visiting my website! Music is my passion, and my life is dedicated to sharing my music through the violin. Whether you want to listen to clips of my music, find an outstanding violin instructor, learn about upcoming performances, or are simply curious about me, you are welcome to browse all the pages; they are listed on the left.
